Taking Care of Keana Point

By participating in the care and restoration of Keana Point, students at Pearl City High School gain respect for the environment and love for our shoreline plants and animals and sea life. They have linked their experience to their readings in class. This is our third year working with the state department DNLR on the reclamation of Kaena point. Here are two wonderful examples of students learning and taking action for the good of our community. Kalani High School The production titled "Freaks, Geeks, and other Weirdos..."  seeks to use student self-expression as a tool for catalyzing social change, and encouraging more students to use their voices to express who they are. Be the Change Grant - College and Career Fair by Pearl City High School

On November 8, 2013, Pearl City High School held their annual College and Career Fair in the cafeteria and all students (grades 9-12) were able to partake in this wonderful event. This is one of the projects funded by the Youth Philanthropy Boards Be the Change Grants! Be the Change Grantee Honored

Lynn Nguyen, Punahou student, was honored as one of Hawai‘i’s top youth volunteers by a national program that encourages community service among young people.Lynn was named a Distinguished Finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, which recognized the positive impact of her service project, “Walkin’ in a Gift Card Wonderland.” The gift-card collection provided small gifts and goodies for children diagnosed with cancer.
